Immersive Medicine

Immersive Medicine™ is a concept for articulating the healing benefits of a return to African Indigenous ways of being. In traditional systems, the tripartite human is cared for as a unified mind-body-spirit, finding healing (medicine) through their surroundings, rather than as the separated parts of a being living in conflict with their environment.

This understanding allows us to explore less common forms of wholistic (mind-body-Spirit) wellness and healing, such as an integration of sound, sight, flavor, aromatics, physical touch and movement. These sources of healing work together to overpower, within the individual, common forms of mental & physical environmental harm, particularly those weaponized by racism and racist structures.

Designed by People of African Descent for PoAD with an acceptance of the benefits to all other groups, Immersive Medicine evokes an understanding that no singular solution / support will release PoAD from the centuries long strongholds of violence, greed and immeasurable loss that we continue to miraculously survive.

IM™ engages three tenets for producing the desired results of drastically improved wholistic wellbeing: Multi-Sensory Experiences, Inner and Outer Wellness and Personal Transformation.

All our offerings at NOIR Labs, including NOIR FEST, noirpress and Portal X are designed as sources of Immersive Medicine, as they provide uplifting and healing experiences.

NOIR FEST WEEK - FEB 24 - MAR 3

NOIR FEST WEEK: Tour of Black New York is set to include watch parties, screenings, dialogues with worldmaking visionaries and a Tour of Black New York.

Closing out Black History Month, NFW is an unprecedented opportunity for collaboration across organizations and communities committed to the upliftment of the Black race and the creation of a new timeline in which formerly marginalized communities rule the world. You can get your tickets and find partnership opportunities here.

NOIR FEST was created to accelerate Black Liberation through the curation of aspirational and visionary films with a visually striking aesthetic. Since our 2019 launch on the Yale campus, we have seen many of our highlighted artists gain major distribution. By expanding our imaginaries to include infinite game-changing possibilities for Black people, NOIR FEST artists are rewiring Black minds, hearts and bodies for a Liberated future, experienced now in the present.

The festivities will begin on Feb 24 on Yale campus with a dialogue on Storytelling as Nation Building, followed by a tour of legendary Black businesses in New York on Feb 25; a dialogue exploring the Spirituality of Blackness on Feb 26; an invitation-only focus group for the Brooklyn Arts Council’s Dynamic Engagement Portal on Feb 28 and more. Films will be available through March 3.

Black Genius interviews with visionaries from NY African Film Festival, Brooklyn Arts Council, Black Film Space, and Hood Esoterics will give us tools for activating our genius. Watch parties will include classic and contemporary aspirational Black films from NOIR FEST artists, NY African Film Festival, and Black Film Space.

As an expression of our love for New York’s Black-owned businesses, we are launching the Tour of Black New York Database to document and promote the best of the City’s Black-owned businesses.

The Moment is Ripe for Quantum Liberation

As we journey through this Age of Aquarius, humanity has greater access to and awareness of the increasingly transparent convergence of the metaphysical, the scientific, the spiritual, the ancient and the digital. As worldmakers in pursuit of a Liberated Black future, it is NOIR Labs’ duty to activate these intersections in powerful ways, for the benefit of all African-descended peoples, and by extension, all of humanity.

We are calling on all Afrofuturists, physicists, cultural producers (artists, storytellers, filmmakers, etc) and everyone who dreams of a Liberated Black future to join us over the next year, as we explore and assess the convergence of the above principles through a creative, Afrocentric, and humanist lens.

Meditation, manifestation and quantum physics. Religiosity, revolution, and spiritual awakenings. Ancestors, soul family and Gen Z’s secret weapons. NFTs, social currency and the New World. Black love, Black intimacy and Black power. Self love, self acceptance and Liberation from WithinTM.  All these topics are safely welcome here, in this space where Quantum Afrofuturist Worldmaking is an essential daily practice.

If the above resonates with you, we invite you to showcase your work in the Portal to African Intelligence, our digitally curated creative directory of leading African Diaspora cultural production, and Quantum Afrofuturist art and ideology. We invite partnerships on events featuring leading thinkers and creators in the Worldmaking space, as well as on curated journeys through the Portal to African Intelligence. Let us together experience, amplify and fortify African Diaspora art and cultural production speaking to the ideologies and visions of Quantum Afrofuturism. You can also join this movement as a patron.

The first installment of the Quantum Afro Futures series, Volume I, kicked off Feb 28, 2022 with a dialogue and Virtual Portal Journey sponsored by Yale Council on African Studies. Future installments will take place here on the Portal, covering the topics listed above. If you’d like to partner on a dialogue, experience or Journey, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
